I guess I need to address the big elephant in the room, have you noticed the new look around here? I got everything moved over last week and am tirelessly working on updating and getting everything perfect before I officially launch my new site. So for today, I’m over here talking about our next big project, the Man Cave.
Later this summer, we will be hosting family who are coming down for a visit. Our house will be the hub of get-together’s and dinners for about a week. We figured it was finally high time to transform that room off the garage into a space to hang out and help control all the
men-folk extra people we will have over. Thus, Chris gets a man cave.
We are thrilled to be able to do something functional with this room. It’s basically been a catch-all for tools and Chris’ extracurricular gear. So here is what all we have planned for this room.
To start, we are changing up the footprint of this room just a bit. The entrance to the room is currently through the garage, yet there is a window overlooking our side patio. We plan to close up the original entrance and put a door and a small porch out to the side of the garage. This not only will create a better outdoor entertainment area but accessing it from the main house will be much easier as well. This will be our phase one.
The great part about this room is that it already has plumbing lines right where we want a small bar to be. We will add in the wet bar and do either a worn rustic wood or galvanized metal on the surround. I’m super excited to take on this room and give it a dark moody look. Something that goes against all of my light and airy feels in my home. I feel like a guy’s area is perfect for a dark green-grey.
Towards the back of the room, we are planning on building a room length closet. Not only will this be a smart investment for resale, but it will be a perfect place for Chris to store his gear. We will install barn doors to help with that rustic vibe.
And finally, after many years, the mounts that line the wall of our family room, that eyesore that I haven’t been able to figure out how to style, will have a home of their own. Bye-bye Bambi.
Here’s to hoping this project goes smoother than our bathroom remodel. I think Chris is just excited that I’m so excited about his space. I’ll be back soon with more on how we cleaned out this room, it’s a part of our massive garage clean up for my One-Year Declutter Challenge. It’s not too late to check that out and jump into decluttering your home with me.
