Hey Friends! I woke up this morning, grabbed my usual cup of coffee (with Silk almond milk creamer) and took a deep long sigh of relieve. At the beginning of the year I made a decision to finally invest in my brand. To invest in this blog. A dream I had four years ago as we purchased our very first house, to share with you all every step we made along the way in creating a home. This blog baby of mine was finally ready to become a Brand. To become a Business.
How I rebranded
So I decided that this is the year I would invest my hard earned money in a scheme that promises no return. But I was ready to own my own pretty space on the web. For those who have been around for quite a while, you've followed along on my journey through a free platform called Blogger, a space owned and dictated by Google. Blogger is like renting a home whereas WordPress (my new format) is like owning your home. For someone who didn't know if this crazy idea of blogging would be a short fuse, I wasn't ready to put myself totally out there money-wise. So I reserved myself. I made due with what I had as I grew and learned the ways of 'blogging.' And for some insane reason, it stuck. I liked sharing with you guys. I loved the thrill of hitting that publish button. I enjoyed the community I was now a part of. I was ready to buy my new home.
March came around and after months of obsessive research on what it took to build a website, I pulled the plug. I purchased my domain name, bought a years worth of hosting and found a fun and feminine theme - that's what you guys see, it's the paint on the walls. Then came the fun part (said in a very sarcastic tone) of transferring all my posts, updating my post, rebranding and building my site from the ground up. Coding was learned, hair fell out and one melt-down occurred. But here I stand today with something I'm actually proud of.
So what will you guys see? A more custom site that hopefully will be easier to navigate. I've added some fun new features like these custom category tabs. Easier ways of getting to projects, house tour and now you can shop my house. What is this shop my house tab? I've linked up to either identical or similar items that are found throughout the pictures that you see. Love something? Then check out that tab to see where I found it at.
I also have a new Services tab. Here you will have the option to purchase my brain. Ok, that sounds a bit morbid and gross. But you will have the opportunity to ask design and style related questions. If you are planning a room makeover and don't know where to start, I can help with that too. I'm offering a mood board package where I provide you with inspiration, ideas and direct links to products. I'm so excited to get started with you, I already have a few fun e-design projects lined up.
I woke up this morning, took a sip of coffee and smiled with content that The Fogue Abode was ready for great things. And today is the day that I officially introduce it to the world.
All of this to say Welcome! I hope that you enjoy this space and that you continue to come back and follow our journey. Who knows where the winds of tomorrow will take me.
