I’m all about goal setting. I think it’s great both personally and professionally. The idea of waking up with something to work towards. It’s a push to keep going when you have a really bad day. Goals are my life source. So as I do each January, I set a list of goals. Some are easily achievable and others…well they’ve been on the list for a few years. The point is, it’s something to work towards. Today I wanted to take a little break and since we are halfway through the year 😱 and do a little blogging mid-year review.
Way back in January (that seemed like yesterday) I wrote about my 2018 goals. Just as I predicted, my mad organizing and planning phase ended right around February. But good thing I put all that energy into a list that provided a little direction for the year. Let’s see just how far we’ve come on the list and what’s in store for the rest of the year.
The Fogue Abode’s Mid Year Review
Goal #1 Organization – Completion Level 50%
At the beginning of the year, I made my #1 goal organization. I really wanted to batten down the hatches and get those unfinished projects completed and get our house fully organized. To do that, I created a One Year Declutter Challenge that I review at the end of each month. I’m tackling a little each month so I don’t overwhelm myself or the madness that is a toddler and a baby. If you want to read all about how the challenge began you can read that [here] then jump over to [this page] to see how we’ve progressed.
Goal #2 Blog Revamp – Completion Level 100%
I finally invested in myself and my brand, that’s what blogging guru Taylor Bradford always tells us. So to be taken a little more seriously in this world of blogging and to have a more custom website, I made the switch to a self-hosted WordPress site in March. It took a little time to get everything lined out, all the wrinkles ironed, but it came together and is something I’m so proud of and excited to show off. We can officially mark this one off the list with this post [here.]
Goal #3 Freshen Up the Back Porch – Completion Level 40%
My one big project for the year was to freshen up our back deck. It was in a very sad state and if you followed along earlier this week, I revealed phase one of this big project with the Deck Re-stain. We’ve got to finish up with the railing which will be painted black and add in furniture and some outdoor lighting.
Goal #4 Grace
This one was more of a personal journey that I embarked on. If spirituality isn’t your thing, feel free to keep going, but I did want to share with you the amazing way God has moved. I desired a way to serve the single pregnant mothers in our community. Paul preached about the Church being responsible for the widows and orphans, I think had he lived during our age that these brave women would certainly be classified in that. I found an opportunity to minister and be love and grace to these women in a time when they often feel the church is nothing but judgment. If you’re the praying type, please just lift up these girls and this ministry, Jesus knows all the details and will intercede. God has opened so many amazing doors but I also see Satan working against us. If you don’t think spiritual warfare is a thing, try starting to disciple in your community, gesh!
Goal #5 …the Gallery – Completion Level 0%
Here I was feeling pretty darn great about my goal accomplishment for the year. I’ve either completed or am on track to complete everything…except for this one. Maybe if I put it off then gallery walls will no longer be a thing. 🤷♀️ This does need to be a priority for the second half of this year. As I move more towards farmhouse style in my home, I’ve noticed the family pictures becoming less and less. A beautiful gallery wall down our hall would be the perfect and more private opportunity to display our family. Now if I could get my talented friend David from @thespeckleddahlia to help me out with a layout. Seriously, the boy has mad skills when it comes to gallery walls.
Guys, I’m feeling a little bit recharged and refreshed with this review. Like any job, sometimes you need a little boost to get you going again. Coming up on the docket, we will be finishing up the deck and The Barn project just got underway after a few setbacks. So much DIY goodness there to share with you guys!
