Confessions, Of The Bathroom Kind!

I have a confession to make, when I posted our Guest Bathroom Reveal way back here, we weren't completely finished.  Sitting behind that white waffled shower curtain was a partially finished shower.

You see, we didn't mean for it to take this long to complete.  We tore the original shower out, installed the new bathtub and then started tiling with these fabulous extra large subway tiles.  Then we hit a brick wall with the shower plumbing.  Well by we, I mean Chris.  Sorry to throw you under the bus, babe.

What we thought would be a rather simple DIY turned into a rather difficult problem.  A problem we let sit for months before finally getting the courage up to bust out the tiling Chris had already done.

Then, a few more months toiled by as we let it sit before actually fixing the plumbing issue and re-tiling it.

But our problems didn't stop there.  At this point, it had been over a year since we purchased all of our plumbing supplies and we couldn't find what color grout we had originally used.  That led us on a guessing game, and you guessed right, we were wrong.  So out had to come that grout and we had to buy the other color which then ended up being correct.

A few more months drug by and thanks to my step-dad for coming by and helping Chris install the drain under the house. We officially have a working shower for the kids and guests!

Baby Fogue [Big Reveal]

Dropping by to say Weston Rhett joined our family late Tuesday evening.  He came into this world at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 18 inches long.  I'm very thankful for my small babies.  Being at home with Aspen has been a huge adjustment for us.  I can't wait to tell you more, but now I have a hungry baby.

Baby Fogue [39 Weeks]

Unfortunately, I'm back again for our 39 week update.  After an active week last week with contractions and cramping, it's been a rather quiet week.  I'm calling this the calm before the storm.  Ideally, I'm wanting to go into labor naturally and not have to deal with another induction.  It's time to get serious with these natural labor inducing ideas such as spicy foods and eating pineapple.  Do you have any tried and true induction remedies? I spent yesterday evening doing a little bit of walking.

While I'm bouncing away on the yoga ball, let's check in to week 39.

Baby Size: Happy Halloween Wes!  You are about the size of a pumpkin these days!  He should be breaking into 7 pounds and getting close to 20 inches long.

Symptoms: Lots of pain and pressure these days.  I confirmed at my last appointment that he is low and ready to go.  This means my walk is straight up penguin waddle now.  Continued Braxton hicks and frequent bathroom breaks leaves me guessing if this could be it.

Currently Missing: The ability to sleep without the need for pillows to prop my large belly up.  I think Aspens about ready to say goodbye to mommies pillows as well.  Her attempts to sleep close to me usually results in her sleeping straight across our heads.

Sleep:  Sleep is interrupted nightly by having to roll and adjust pillows or to get up for a bathroom break.  I'm ready to trade these wake up periods with a new little squish.

Cravings and favorite foods: Trying to cram in the last of the unhealthy food options into my diet, I'm craving a fried egg and cheese BLT sandwich.  Or heart attack on a bun, if you will.

Mood: Impatient.  I'm so over answering the same questions over and over like "how much longer?"  Or hearing people tell me about their kids.  Just let me sulk in silence.

Buying:  Did you see the big nursery reveal earlier this week!?  We spent the weekend finishing up that room so a few little purchases like hooks and screws to get this project checked off the to-do list.

Aspens Reaction:  Aspen finally got to feel baby brother have the hiccups.  She tries to scare away his hiccups by running up to my belly and yelling at baby brother.  Maybe this is a good natural induction method she should keep up.

Nursery/Guest Room Reveal

This post contains affiliate links.

We are cutting it close, but this weekend was spent putting the finishing touches on the nursery/guest room!  I'm so excited to show you how this room turned out.

It was one of the last rooms in our house that needed saving in a desperate way.  Until just a few months ago, a bed had been shoved in there and it housed most of our random junk.  Once I cleared it out and was working with a clean slate, I knew I wanted something light and airy that felt homey enough for our guests but would also double as our nursery for little Wes.

To start out, we needed to give this room a fresh coat of paint.  I went with Valspar's Mink Frost which is a soft brown/grey that is just a few shades lighter than our bedrooms color.  Since the room is dark and the only window is shaded by a large crepe myrtle, it needed something almost white to bounce light from.

We took out the old white and brass ceiling fan that was in desperate need of an update and replaced it with a simple drum light.  This total project was less than $60.  Instead of spending money on a light figure that was already together, which could easily cost $100+, I found a light kit and added a drum shade to it.

The furnishings were all pieces that we currently own, the green bed that was in the spare room received an update with this washed linen duvet cover.  We moved the dresser and crib from Aspen's room and gave it a more adventurous update with this adorable bedding from Copper Pearl and a soft linen changing pad to complement the airiness of the room.

Much like Aspens nursery, I wanted the theme of this room to be versatile and able to grow with Wes.  I didn't want a generic baby theme, so I loosely tagged it as Adventure themed which embraced some of my favorite details of this room.

To add a bit of a rustic element to this room, I wanted to use some stacked crates for the nightstand.  I left one of the crates opened up as a fun way to add some decorative details like this airplane blueprint.  I had found this airplane bedding from Restoration Hardware that I so wanted in the nursery.  But with a $90 price tag for a crib sheet, I knew it wasn't meant to be.  But then I saw that they offered a free swatch of the bedding which I ordered and then framed.  This fits perfectly with the paper airplane I saved from my sister's baby shower!

There are just so many details of this room that I love!  It came together perfectly and is just awaiting it's tiny occupant to arrive, hopefully soon!

Below I have rounded up a list of sources for everything seen in the nursery/guest room. If I missed anything you are curious in, leave a comment below.

Baby Fogue [38 Weeks]

Well we made it through to week 38 and a full moon.  I have my weekly appointment this afternoon, but currently not feeling very labor-ish today.  I was really hoping that extra bit of gravitational pull or what ever science phenomena that makes women go into labor during a full moon would have some magic effect on me today.  Sadly it hasn't.

On a plus note, I did finally manage to get all of our bags packed and ready for Go Time.  If I make it to the weekend I may try to create a What's In My Hospital Bag post.

So, here goes my weeks stats and we will see if we make it back for another week .

Baby Size: Wes finally made it to the melon status and is weighing in about the size of a winter melon.  This should be around 6.6 pounds and 19.6 inches long.

Symptoms: Back on the crazy train of symptoms this week, I can sum this up by saying just about every symptom I've had these last 38 weeks have culminated into one.  At this point my whole body aches and I can't tell what's what anymore...is that a labor pain or just my sciatic nerve running up and down my entire body?

Currently Missing: EVERYTHING!

Sleep:  Limited.  Aspen has enjoyed snuggles with mommy this week.  Mommy has not.  (Poor baby girl)

Cravings and favorite foods: Current craving, cheetos!  I know, nutritious right?

Mood: Irritable.

Buying:  This weeks shopping list included a few breastfeeding essentials to finish out our registry list. We are now prepped and ready for the arrival of Baby Wes.

Aspens Reaction: With the endless parade of trips to and from the doctors office lately, our little Aspen has found a big fascination with doctors.  It's so cute to see her play doctor at home, making sure to check on baby brothers heart beat and mom's pulse.  She has also requested to be a doctor for Halloween.  I'm so sad, she's finally to a point where she picks her own outfits out.  Bare with me as I have an emotional moment.

Before I sign off for this weeks update, I wanted to request prayers from you my readers.  When I became pregnant with Baby Wes, I joined a group of moms through an online community who were also due in October.  It's been an exciting few weeks as our babies have started entering the world.   But today, we were notified that one of those babies is now fighting for her life and isn't expected to make it.  Please join me in lifting up this sweet little one and her parents.  God knows the details, we just need to be faithful in lifting them up to him.
