Hey guys! Can you believe it’s time for another One-Year Declutter Challenge update? This month we are wrapping up our fourth declutter project and that’s the Garage. Anyone else gets that sudden burst of spunk to complete some outdoor projects with the warm weather this month? We certainly did and this project was also part of our big ManCave remodel we have going on.
If you are new here, let me tell you all about our One-Year Declutter Challenge. I crave a decluttered home, but I also have two kids that make those nice and cozy 30 day challenges unrealistic. So I’ve created a declutter challenge that you can do at your own pace. There will be one prompt each month, giving you 30 days to work at your own speed. The Garage Declutter
You see, the room off of our garage that will become the ManCave housed all of our garage junk. All of Chris’ power tools (and mine – the miter saw is all mine! *evil laughs*) toolboxes, hunting and fishing gear, and basically anything that didn’t have a designated place in the house lived here.
Can someone explain why the garage is the perfect catch-all for junk?
But it did and it was full of junk along with the garage. I let Chris handle this task and he was assigned to clearing out that room and organizing the garage so that our cars would fit + all the junk. We took these sturdy shelving units, which work great in an outdoor area, and lined the wall. They are very sturdy and super easy to assemble. It worked great for organizing all of our overflow stuff
We used the space between the shelf and the garage door to house rakes, brooms and spare cut-offs. Everything else eased back into place once we cleared all of the little odds and ends.
It’s by no means a Garage Mahal but it serves its purpose. Remember this challenge isn’t about big projects or buying a ton of extra’s in hopes of becoming better organized. But to use what you have and create systems that better cleans out and gives your space more function.
Let me know how your outdoor storage space decluttering went this month.
Happy Decluttering Friends!
