Who likes color!? 🙋 Yeah, this girl right here loves color. I mean, I did paint my piano a bright mustard yellow for crying out loud. Sometimes I love the light airy whites of the modern farmhouse. And sometimes I want to see more color. This week I started binging the Netflix series Anne with an E, so good, and I find myself paying more attention to that gorgeous farmhouse than the storyline. I love the use of greens and deep blues. So in honor of my latest obsession, I wanted to give you a round-up of all my favorite farmhouse colors that aren’t white or grey!
My Favorite Farmhouse Pops of Color
When it comes to farmhouse style, you can’t just pick any color from the swatch pile! You want to stay in a more muted and matte pallet. The key is to draw from the natural colors of nature. The green of the grass, the blue of the sky, the yellow of a sunflower. Mixing these colors in with paint is a great way to add some pop!
You could subtly paint a door or a piece of furniture. Or paint an entire room and add some chair railing for some soft white. There are so many fun ways to use color with farmhouse style. I’ve gathered up a listing of my favorite non-white and non-grey farmhouse colors to give your space a bit of pop!
1 | Clark + Kensington Pine Grove
Yall, I’ve hit the dark green craze hardcore! Not only do I have planned to paint The Barn this color, but if you saw this week’s Rustic RV Remodel Mood Board, then you saw my suggestion for a gorgeous dark green cabinet with a bright white tile backsplash. I first fell in love with this shade when I saw Chris Loves Julia’s dark green study. I’m digging the rustic vibes and how the wood grain of the shelves pop.
2 | Sherwin Williams Glisten Yellow
I’ve always been a sucker for a bright yellow. So it was a no-brainer that Glisten Yellow would make the list. Muting this down a bit has me loving this shade that Sherwin Williams carries. The yellow would make a great accent or a fun laundry or kitchen color.
3 | Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
I’ve had a crush on Hale Navy ever since we moved into our house. We have a fun accent wall in our family room this color. I love Hale Navy as an accent for a fireplace surround or a kitchen island. This color gives off the perfect matte shade that pops against a farmhouse white. I could picture a library or study with this color above a chair rail with detailed molding.
4 | Sherwin Williams Dill
Ok, Anne with an E has me dying to scrap all of my blues and transition to green! The green molding against the white of their farmhouse is stuff of dreams. And then my sweet friend Jenny from @bigfamilylittlefarmhouse and her green kitchen! Isn’t her home just farmhouse perfection!? This brings me to my last farmhouse favorite of Sherwin Williams Dill. This green grass shade is perfect for a kitchen or any built in. You could also use it as a fun molding color in a bright white room.
That rounds out my pops of color list. If you are looking for the perfect grey and white farmhouse colors, check out this post here.
When it comes to paint colors, do you feel yourself drawn to a soft white/grey or do you love a bold color like green or navy?
